AVM – AV-Mart, was the brainchild of the late John Thomas Payton, Jr. In 1977; after working for decades in the electronic media field, John wanted to focus on what he considered “the backbone of our society, Education”. Over the next 30 years, AVM has never lost its focus and is a pillar of the community serving to rebuild Gulf Coast schools having designed and installed hundreds of multi-media classrooms utilizing the latest teaching technologies including: LCD projectors, Interactive Whiteboards, “Elmo” Visualizers , student assessment remotes, wireless laptops and distributed audio systems, utilizing brands including: Epson, Dukane, Dalite, Anchor Audio, Einstruction, Revolabs, NEC, Eiki, Extron, LG, and Samsung to name a few.

Over the years, AVM’s expertise expanded beyond Education to include government, corporate and institutional training.  AVM’s offering of products and services continued to grow as did the company’s reputation of excellence. The company’s commitment to the client success was rewarded by being named Louisiana’s Employer of the year by the New Orleans American Society of Trainers and Developers, ASTD.

AVM’s Rehabilitation products division has been instrumental in the advancement of technologies for low vision, blind, deaf-blind persons across America.  Our trademarked Braillephone and Powervision assistive technology products enhance the lives of visually disabled persons enabling them to be independent.  AVM is America’s eldest independent low vision dealer/distributor with clients across the United States.

Today, AVM continues to serve its customers fiduciarily with un-paralleled 24/7/365 support  on the most unique and exclusive products available for direct purchase, via GSA schedule, or State Contract.  John Payton’s commitment to “exceeding expectations” continues through the second generation; sons Rick, Keith and Bruce Payton, who grew up in the business, now own and are VP’s over the three divisions of the company : Rick – Rehabilitation, Keith – Corporate Technology, and Bruce – Educational Media.
